Adoption Success Stories

Bob Marley [formerly Joey] - return to top

Joey is now named Bob Marley and I can't tell you how wonderful he has been! He gets along with everyone, human and animal. We take him in the car, and he loves it. He has been to the river and loves jumping from rock to rock. We took him to the beach this weekend and he loved playing with other dogs (although he is a little timid of the water). He does great going to friends houses and is perfect around kids. People comment on what a pretty dog he is! I wanted to let you know how happy I am with him! Thank you for taking the time to help me pick my perfect companion. I also want to say, I really think what you all are doing to help homeless pets is priceless. Thanks again!

Ollie [formerly Tanja] -  - return to top

We just wanted to send a note and let you know that "Ollie" (AKA Tanja) is doing wonderful and a joy for our family.  We have had him a little over a year and we couldn't imagine being without him.  Here is a picture of Ollie and our daughter, thanks so much for allowing us to make him part of our family!

Cricket [formerly Bosley] - return to top

Bosley, now named Cricket, is a wonderful addition to my household. He s the sweetest, most loving, happy-go-lucky boy. Cricket follows me wherever I go! Even if he is sleeping, he wakes up to follow me to the room I'm in so that he can sleep there. Although he does sleep with me on some nights, his favorite place to rest and sleep is in my closest on a pile of clothes!

He loves going on walks, being rubbed, and spending time with me! I am so

lucky to have Cricket! Thank you so much for giving me the chance to love him!

Casper [formerly Luke] - return to top

Casper, now named Luke, found a wonderful family in CT. He's a lucky boy!  Here's an update from the happy family:

Luke weighs 65 lbs now and is 8 months old, almost 9. It's hard to believe we have had him 4 months already. He seems to like the water more and more  each time we walk him at the pond. There is a great walking trail where a lot of people bring their dogs to play and swim.

Luke loves it there. A lot of people comment on how pretty he is and then they always ask, "what kind of dog is he?".

He loves the whole family, but pretty much is stuck to my hip. He is very loyal. It was hard to get his picture. Each time we got the camera out, he would come over to sniff or lick the lens!

Monty - return to top

It was a lucky day for sweet Monty when he found his happy future with this wonderful young couple. They loved him the minute they saw him. He's going to have a very happy life!

Callie - return to top

Callie waited almost a full year for someone to notice how special she is and take her home. The happy day finally came and now she's got a wonderful home. She loves her new feline siblings and being in a real home is a dream come true. Proud new daddy sent us this photo of Callie on her favorite perch in her new home.

Charlie- return to top

Here is a picture of Charlie taken this weekend. Our son, Sam, commented that Charlie and I have the same beard and mustache.  He’s such a love.  I cannot believe how sweet his disposition is.  He’s curious, fun, interested in being near one or all of us.  Sam has been home with Charlie the last two days and they have bonded really well.  You can add another success story to your long list.  We feel so good about having him in our home.

Trib [formerly Mr.Tribbles']- return to top

'Trib'  AKA 'Mr. Tribbles' is doing great.  What a wonderful addition to our family! We are so thankful you took such good care of him. Here is Trib with my son Parker.

Emmie Lou [formerly Emily] - return to top

Just wanted to let you know what a love bug Emmie is. She is always on someone's lap, curled up beside us or just lapping your face.

Emmie is also learning how to play - sadly she didn't know how to chase a ball, pull on a sock, or anything else that puppies learn. But she does know when it is time to eat and sleep! We adore her. Thank you so much for all you do.

Rufus [formerly Pongo] - return to top

After almost a full year of waiting for his happy ending, Pongo was about to give up hope. Then a wonderful lady came to Wescott Acres and adopted him. Oh happy day!  He is in the most awesome home ever. His new name is Rufus and his mom sent us this nice photo showing our boy all dressed up for the 4th.  Here is the note she sent.......

Just wanted to send you my latest pic and wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July!  I still love it here.  I can even stay out in the house during the day since I am such a good boy!

Georgia and Flower - return to top

The girls are doing great!

The 3 ladies are having a blast together! They are now chasing each other around the yard at 100 miles an hour and rolling all over when they crash!  In the last 3-4 days Flower has made great strides in allowing herself to relax while playing in the yard!

Yesterday, they discovered that our great Dane Stella has a toy basket full of toys in the corner of the living room….let me say that it looks like a Toys R Us exploded in my living room! My family and I finally feel that Flower thinks she has a home, while Georgia has acted like she had a home the day she got here!

Adopting those two angels has been wonderful for our entire family (not so good for a few pairs of shoes that have been eaten-ooops). Thanks to everyone has done over the last year to get them to where they were able to be adopted out – we are very grateful!

Goldie - return to top

Goldie was adopted in October 2007 to a wonderful family in Florida. She is doing great and loves her new family very much.  They say she is the best dog ever. She loves her doggie sibling, all children and living in Florida! Thanks to this awesome family for welcoming a South Carolina girl into their home. (Goldie is the yellow dog sitting beside her new best friend)

Snowy - return to top

Snowy is doing great. I believe that she is house trained because she has behaved herself well while my husband and I are working. She enjoys her morning walks with my husband before he goes to work and our "together" walks after dinner. Sunday we took her to the lake to meet the rest of her family and they got along very well and had so much fun.  I am including pictures of her first bath with us. She seems very happy and we are happy to have her!

Einstien (formerly Benji) - return to top

Thought you might like to know that Einstien (formerly Benji) is doing really well and is happy in his new home.  He has made friends with everyone in the family, especially our grandaughter, and with some of our neighbors and their kids. He warms up to women much more easily then men and with kids in no time at all.
We have placed no restrictions on where he can go, so he follows us everywhere.  Sometimes he sleeps with us, sometimes he sleeps in the living room, but where he can watch our door.  Einstien always jumps into bed for a cuddle last thing in the evening and first thing in the morning.

He loves to play and has toys scattered everywhere.  About once a day, Einstien goes around and brings everything into the living room.    He is very loving, playful, responsive, and bright!  We adore him and he is already as spoiled as the other family pets - and loving it!

Perry - return to top

Perry's Happy Ending. A couple drove all the way from Tampa to adopt this lucky boy!

Perry was a real trooper on the long trip back to FL. As soon as we got here he decided he was home and settled in with ease.  All the neighbors came over to meet him and he greeted each one with a smile and a handshake. We took Perry out for a boat ride and he liked it very much. A tennis ball is his favorite toy.  Perry is house trained. He is a "Velcro Golden"...... always by my side.

Miracle - return to top

Miracle came to Wescott Acres Pet Rescue with a horrible burn down her back where someone had poured hot oil or acid on this innocent girl. She never once held a grudge against people. She's always been sweet and loving. Lucky for her, a wonderful couple came along and gave her a great home. They just sent us this photo, saying they've renamed her Athen Milan and she's so precious to them. See the photo of her as she carries her favorite toy, her moosie, piggy back style.  What a happy ending!

Zippy [now named Tinker] - return to top

Zippy is now named Tinker. He is so sweet and smart. He sleeps in the bed with me every night. He sleeps under the covers, but sometimes, he sticks his head out like me. The other dogs and cats have accepted him. He is just so sweet that nobody can be jealous. I really got a wonderful boy! Thanks for all you do!

Girl [now named Gracie] - return to top

Girl was adopted by a family in Maine who loves the Chesapeake breed. She is one happy pup now!! Life is great. Here's Girl, now named Gracie, running in the front pasture with her new friend Percy. They are having a great time!

Noie [now named Karo] - return to top

Noie is now named Karo. She was adopted by a wonderful lady in Virginia who has given Karo the home of her dreams. Here is a small portion of a wonderful update we've received:

While she is without a doubt my little shadow (which is truly apparently when I have to leave and she can't come with me) I think Karo's "best friend" on the block is my next door neighbor's dog Cody.  Cody is a Golden Retriever with a wonderful disposition.  They play together frequently in my backyard.  At 10, Cody can't quite keep up with Karo's pace, but he is a wise fellow and not only lets her know when he's had enough, but also has a trick or two up his paw.  When he gets the tennis ball, but has had enough, he lays on top of it to keep it from her.  I think they are great for each other and my neighbor agrees.  That said, I am amazed at how well Karo entertains herself with her toys, pouncing and flipping the ball like a catch.

Blackie [now named Jack] - return to top

I have renamed him Jack, as he seems more like a Jack than a Blackie.  He sleeps well at night, he has a dog bed in my room and he is ready to go to bed by 10 PM.  He definitely loves taking long walks, which are good for me as well, and that makes him sleep better.  I try to get in one in the evenings of at least an hour.  He walks on the leash well.  I grabbed the camera and took a few quick shots when we came back in the house a few minutes ago.  He is a wonderful dog and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to make him a part of my life.  Please take care and keep up the good work that you do.

Andre (now named Anjo) - return to top

A concerned Irmo resident saw the small white kitten darting in and out of traffic on a busy road and rescued him out of harms way. They took Andre to Wescott Acres. Andre was cute as a button but did not warm up to staff and visitors very well… He was very “whiny” when anyone tried to hold him.

After being adopted, he changed quite a bit! He loves to be held and cuddled now. In fact he has been known to take a nap in your arms. His favorite thing to do with his new mom is to sit on a comfy chair and watch TV with her. Anjo really gets a kick out of watching Headline News where he can see the words scroll across the screen all day long!

Ranger - return to top

Ranger is such a good little boy!  He is settling in very nicely in his new home.  He listens, he is very playful and very, very sweet.  We are thrilled to have him and everyone that has met him, loves him!  Yesterday a friend came with her family to see Ranger. Today he had the visit of the lady that does the PR work for my gallery.  Yesterday, Ranger went to visit our neighbor with a thank you card for the nice reference she gave to have us approved for adoption.....  In short, he’s getting to know all the people in his new world.

As promised, here is a picture of Lucy and Ranger playing in the snow.

Lucas - return to top

Lucas waited and waited to be adopted. Wescott staff and volunteers couldn't understand it because he's such an awesome boy. It all makes perfect sense now.....he was waiting for the perfect place to call home. He's found his family and finally has his happy ending. He has kids to play with and gets to sleep in the bed with them at night. He couldn't be happier and it was worth the wait.

Bud - return to top

I just wanted to give you an update on Bud, aka “Buddy.”  He is fitting in beautifully with our family.  He and my existing dog were instant “litter mates.”  He is exceptional with my 3 kids and their friends and is already trained on the invisible fence!  He ignores my 2 cats and is a quick learner.  He’s been to one of his 8 training sessions at PetSmart and did very well.  He’s a real love bug!  My 3 year old will use him as a pillow while she’s watching TV.  He just eats it up!  Even my husband, who is not an animal lover, thinks Buddy is a good dog.  Now that’s a miracle! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to find such a great dog.  I know it is a labor of love for you and the other volunteers so I wanted to let you know what a difference you made in Buddy’s life and the life of our family.

Winnie [now named Lilly] - return to top

Winnie was rescued from a kill shelter. A wonderful family drove all the way from Raleigh NC to adopt her from us. What a lucky girl Winnie is to have such a great home. Here's what the new family says about her:

Winnie (new name “Lilly”), did absolutely wonderful on the way home.  She wasn’t nervous at all.  She actually slept some of the way.  The snow and ice held off until we got home, so that was a relief.  When we got home our neighbors made a sign with balloons and “treats” welcoming her home.  They all came over to meet her and even our neighbors wheaten mix came to say hello.  They got along great and will be seeing a lot of each other.    She gave everyone ‘kisses’.  She checked out her new house , but didn’t seem to know what to do, so we let her ‘chill’ for a while.  This morning she went for her first walk.  She sniffed everything on the dog trail so it took a while, but that’s okay! We absolutely love her.  She is hanging out with Billy ‘on’ the couch right now!  She was worth the trip!

Update on Hudson [now named Shadow] - return to top

Hudson is now named Shadow and is doing great!!! .  Karl thinks the big boys have gained about 2 years of life with all the exercise they get now with Shadow. She's non stop all day, she bounces all over. Her coat is so beautiful. I've never seen a dogs coat shine so much. She's good and beautiful too.  She is so sweet and doesn't know she is a Pitt Bull.  She just loves to play and investigate everything. I think she is very happy. She sleeps beside my bed in her doggie bed. All in all she's a great addition and I'm so glad I got her!

UPDATE ON BEBO, NOW NAMED CODY! - return to top

BEBO RIDING TO GET MORNING COFFEE!

Bebo is now officially "Cody".  We totally love him!  Cody is such a good, good boy.  He stays home during the work day with our pugs Tucker and Alfie and my mom's caregiver, so he is getting lots of attention and training. Cam told him to be a good boy since he had been returned twice.   Poor fellow!  How could anyone not love him?   He is extremely gentle and is a great companion. He will get much needed exercise and care!

Every weekday morning I take our boys (pugs) to The Java Hut for my breakfast shake--rain or shine. Cody rides with us now, too!  Attached is a photo of Cody on the middle van seat.  My boys are in the front.  Aren't dogs the BEST!?   So glad we found a Wescott Rescue!   Sure wish we could help many others.
